Mount Pleasant Hotel celebrates 70 years of success.
The Mount Pleasant Hotel, Doncaster has plenty to celebrate this year with the completion of another stage in its ongoing redevelopment and the 70th anniversary of the hotel's ownership by the McIlroy family.
The family bought what was then the Estate House for Rossington Hall on the Great North Road, in 1938. Now the hotel has grown from the original and charming hostelry into the highest rated AA 4 star Hotel in South Yorkshire - a favourite for celebrating special occasions and enjoying the facilities of a fine country house.
A programme of expansion and refurbishment that began a decade ago, has allowed the hotel to offer a standard of accommodation, food and welcome that has further enhanced its reputation and success.
A new and stunning reception and bar has been created on either side of the front entrance and this coupled with recent news that in summer 2009 a fabulous spa and an additional seven luxury suites will be opened, will surely ensure the Mount Pleasant keeps its place as a respected and exceptional destination.
As always the new buildings created at the Hotel are designed to blend in with and complement the original Estate House. Traditional materials, including beautifully carved stonework, are a key feature of the new sweeping front façade of the hotel.
Richard McIlroy of the Mount Pleasant said, "We are delighted to be celebrating 70 years of family ownership of a hotel that has become such a popular venue. I am also proud of the way the hotel has evolved, the way it has kept it's character and the how the refurbishments and new buildings have enhanced and maintained the original house."
The new reception and lounge areas will be officially opened by Doncaster Council's Chair of Council, Councillor Tony Sockett, on Friday 8th February at 12.30pm.
